Radio “ILIRIA” is the most successful radio in Albania, produced by “URT” Durrës around the 70s. Based on design of the Romanian radio, “MILCOV 7”. Radio “ILIRIA” operates in the medium wave band AM and short wave SW. It is powered by 4 batteries R20 1.5V or by an external 6V power supply. With this radio, before the 90s, the broadcasts of “Radio Tirana” as “From one match to another” music of festivals or popular but also stations foreigners, as well as “Sanremo”. The ILIRIA radio was a bit difficult to transport since it was large and the batteries were heavy, but this did not stop people from taking it with them to beaches, stadiums, excursions, etc.

The emergence of television and digital communication gradually reduced the dominance of transistor radios like Radio Iliria.
